Design details

How is the waterproofing level of the trousers measured?

We measure the durability of a fabric in terms of withstanding the water pressure exerted by a water column expressed in mm (based on the JIS1092B and ISO 811 Standards).
The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.
These trousers feature a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers), JIS1092B Standard and effectively protects a user faced with three hours of storms.

How is the breathability of the trousers measured?

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard).
The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability.

As a rule of thumb:
RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric
9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric
RET > 12 = low breathability
In this case, the fabric of these trousers has a RET of 12.

How many pockets do the Wilder ski trousers have?

The two waterproof pockets at the thighs allow you to store your phone and keep it as far away as possible from your AVD (avalanche victim detector).
Remember to put your phone on Flight mode to reduce interference with the AVD.

What accessories do the Wilder trousers have?

The trousers feature a removable top for optimal support when handling knives, bindings and skins. It also prevents snow from getting inside.
It also has removable braces.
Finally, stretchy gaiters prevent the entry of snow, when positioned over your ski boots.

How to use the zipped air vents

During the ascent, open the vents on the outside of the thighs to prevent perspiration.
Before going downhill, don’t forget to close them to prevent the wind from entering and making you cold.

What is the RECCO® system?

All of our cross-country ski jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system.
With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche.
Thanks to the RECCO® reflectors, a buried person can quickly and easily be located with the RECCO® detector.
RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.

What is the fit of the Wilder cross-country skiing trousers?

The trousers’ lines were selected to give you the greatest comfort on your ski runs.
The loose fit allows you to wear a base layer underneath, because the model doesn’t have its own layer of heat
The knees are preformed for great freedom of movement.

How have we reinforced the trousers at the bottom of the leg?

We have used a highly durable material at the bottom of the leg to limit edge cuts.
The trousers are also reinforced on the inside to protect the membrane from the boot’s hooks.

How to care for your waterproof trousers

Machine-wash the trousers at 30°C after having closed the zips.
Use a liquid detergent and no fabric softener.

How do you reactivate the trousers’ water-repellency?

With each wash, renew the fabric’s water-repellent properties using a suitable treatment.
A complete range of products specifically designed for the maintenance of waterproof and breathable fabrics is available in all of our Decathlon shops.
This will maximise your garment’s performance for as long as you use it.

Are the Wilder cross-country skiing trousers repairable?

This product is repairable:
- In the event of a snag, apply a patch suitable for waterproof surfaces
- A broken runner can be changed in just a few minutes.
- The pull tab can be changed quickly.
